Holidays

Summer is finally here and I am off for a week to a cottage on a lake north of Montreal, Quebec. One whole week of floating on the lake and sipping iced tea. I cannot leave my home and not take my tea! I need it like a drug to wake up with. If not for tea I think I would sleep forever.
In the heat of the day I take my favourite tea of the moment, be it black, green or Rooibos and pour it over ice with a bit of sugar. Depending on the flavour there might be added slices of lemon, lime or oranges added or even berries. The berries are the freshest you can get at this time in Quebec.
I will gulp it or sip it but it will quench my thirst, that I know for sure. In the evening I will settle in for a hot cup of chai to sip while we watch the sparks and flames in the outdoor fireplace and relax with our new puppy by our feet. Well maybe he will be in his crate, but it will still be perfect.
Puppies are so full of life and energy until they collapse happily from their adventures. Caleb is only 14 weeks old and everything is an adventure.
It is so exciting and draining haveing a puppy. The cat, 16 year old Winston is insensed that we added him to our relaxed family and lifestyle. What were we thinking he seems to ask every time Caleb wants to play and barks from the position on his front paws on the floor surrounding his mouth. What a laugh, except that winston is hissing or sometimes growling. I think it won't take long before the cat actually connects with the pup with the swipe to say "leave me alone"!
I am sure that at the end of my day, every day as i sip my tea and reflect, I will feel the same. Glad to be in love with our new dog. I reassure my husband Steve of this on days when he has had not enough sleep and wonders if he has done the right thing, when all he ever wanted was a dog. I pour him his cup of Jasmine tea and he aggrees that he too loves his new dog, Caleb.
